Queensland Government Allowances

Living Away from Home Allowances Scheme (LAFHAS)

The Department of Education, Training and the Arts provides assistance to eligible Queensland parents whose children must board away from home to attend school on a daily basis because: the ir homes are geographically isolated; and they do not have reasonable daily access to a government school with the appropriate le vel of primary, secondary or special schooling. Textbook and Resource Allowance

Department of Education, Training and the Arts provides assistance to parents/caregivers of secondary school age students attending state and approved non-state schools to contribute towards the cost of textbooks and learning resources. Registered home education students in years 8 - 12 are also eligible. Click here to find out more.

QSA - The Queensland Studies Authority is a statutory body of the Queensland Government. They provide Preparatory Year to Year 12 syllabuses, assessment, reporting, testing, accreditation and certification services for Queensland schools

QTAC - The Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre's role is to provide and operate a centralised tertiary application system and to publish comprehensive information for prospective applicants. QTAC also processes applications for full-time advanced diploma and diploma courses in Queensland institutes of TAFE and some private providers of post secondary courses.

QAGTC - Queensland Association for Gifted and Talented Children Inc. is an open association for people who share a common interest in gifted and talented children.

RREAP - The Rural and Remote Education Access Program (RREAP) helps schools and school communities improve the educational outcomes and opportunities of students who are disadvantaged because of their geographical isolation so that their learning outcomes match those of other students.

VISE - Volunteers for Isolated Students' Education is an organisation that provides educational assistance to families and students in rural Australia.

Rural and Remote Educators Network: This Network is focused on promotion and collaboration in rural and remote education - primary, secondary and tertiary.  It aims to assist practicum and graduate teachers to gain professional teaching experiences in remote and rural community areas.
