The Boomi branch held its inaugural meeting in August 1980, a drought year, which no doubt precipitated the forming of the branch. Starting with 10 families, membership is currently at 20 families coming from the Boomi-Garah-Mungindi area.

In 2007 Wendi Carrigan was elected onto state council. Wendi held the portfolio of CAP convenor for three years.
